The range of services provided at the ACGT microarray facility has recently been expanded. An experienced team has been appointed, and is ready to assist users with every aspect of their microarray experiments. This was made possible, in part, by support from BioPAD, through their Microarray Platform Project. Our expanded service offering now includes the following:
Statistically sound experimental design
Custom array designing
Printing of microarray slides (cDNA or oligo)
Scanning of hybridization results
Data capture and basic analysis
Training in experimental procedures and data analysis
An introduction to microarray analysis can be found in our Microarray starter kit
Prices for our services are based on three possible user categories:
Internal users: Staff from University of Pretoria and CSIR.
BioPAD region users: Scientists from Gauteng, Northwest, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Free State Provinces.
External users: Other South African provinces, all other countries, and non-academic users.
Information for prospective users:
STEP 1: Contact the Microarray Scientific Officer, Nicky Olivier to discuss the specific requirements of your Microarray project.
STEP 2: Complete the project information sheet (available here) and submit it to ACGT (fax 012 420-2878)
STEP 3: The ACGT panel will decide on an appropriate time slot for the project and the Microarray Scientific Officer will co-ordinate with the user.
Samples will only be spotted if they fulfill certain quality control criteria. Applications for projects are now welcome
